Why Leaders Should be Selfish with Anna Eliatamby | Episode 175

Introduction

In this episode, we are talking with Anna Eliatamby, a clinical psychologist and workplace well-being expert who has helped the UN and global organisations develop mental health and well-being strategies and tackle toxic behaviours in the workplace.

In this episode we are discussing the practical tools and strategies she lays out in her new book, Healing-Self Care for Leaders and their Teams.

One thing to say straight away that I’m sure will pique your interest is that very early on in that book, she says that we – leaders – should be selfish.

Listen on…to lead on.

Episode Highlights

  1. Understanding & Managing Your Stress Response. Anna highlights a number of ways that stress levels can affect our behaviour as leaders that you’ve almost certainly never considered before…and what to do about it.
  2. Emotional Regulation, Control & Suppression. Do you fully understand the difference between these three pieces of terminology and how it is affecting you at work and home
  3. Sharing Feedback: Is it about them or us? Anna and Ben have a fascinating discussion about sharing feedback and how, in many cases, the feedback we give has nothing to do with the other person, but everything to do with us.
